The Sri Lankan community of Perth celebrated the 71st National Independence Day on the 4th of February, 2019. This cultural event was organised by the Sri Lankan Cultural Society of WA and sponsored by the Honorary Consulate. Held on the 8th of February at the Don Russell Centre, Thornlie, this colourful event showcased the elegant culture, while commemorating the heroism of the national heroes that fought for the independence of Sri Lanka.
